NKK Partners with Digi-Key Electronics to sponsor H.A.R.D. Hack Engineering Design Challenge held at University of California, San Diego

SAN DIEGO, California – January 20, 2020 – NKK Switches partnered with Digi-Key Electronics to co-sponsor the H.A.R.D. Hack Engineering Design Challenge held January 17-18th at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla. The hackathon-style challenge took place on UCSD’s campus over a span of 24 hours and concluded with student teams presenting prototype hardware designs judged by a panel of professors and event sponsors.

NKK donated SmartDisplay Engineering Development Kits, which feature the SmartDisplay programmable display on switch. SmartDisplay is a space saving, multifunction device that can be programmed to handle a variety of different functions. Each development kit is preprogrammed for basic operation and enables rapid design and development to easily integrate SmartDisplay into engineering designs.

The H.A.R.D. Hack design challenge was open to all UCSD students and helped to promote creativity by encouraging students to design, build and implement an innovative hardware solution from the ground up within 24 hours.
